The Inner Life of a Cell

Ok, I’m gonna crank the nerdliness up to 11…

This video shows what I love about biology: there’s all this really amazing, incredible stuff going on inside your body all the time. The most basic business of life itself is a miracle. I find it all fascinating. In fact, I’m such a nerd that this video almost brought a tear to my eye. There’s also a full-length version available.

Just wait until you see your kiddo for the first time. When you combine your understanding of the cellular world and combine it with a real macroscale new human being that you and your wife created out of a couple of cells (one of which has been hanging out since BEFORE the birth of the woman, just waiting to be fertilized)… well, it’s cool as hell on a lot of levels. :)

Not to mention the fun of watching them develop as they grow and change, gain new skills, etc. Amazing stuff.
